 Teaching Staff Department

Main areas of responsibility:
1. Announces notices of vacancies for academic posts
2. Appointment of academic staff, advancements, permanencies and transfers of academic staff members. Extension of office
3. Swearing-in procedures for academic staff members
4. Resignations of academic staff
5. Pension issues of academic staff
6. Issues certificates
7. Time benefits
8. Academic staff leaves (study leave, leave of absence for teaching and research purposes, medical leave, maternity leave, leave for academic staff members from other Universities who have to travel to AUTh to participate in electorate bodies, evaluation committees, etc.)
9. Employment of teaching staff under Presidential Decree 407/80, special scientists and visiting lecturers
10. Checks the acts of School Heads for inclusion of academic staff members in the category of full or part-time employment and suspends academic staff from duty
11. Sends to the AUTh Legal Service all the necessary documents and the relevant report for the hearing of cases relevant to academic staff and the teaching staff under PD 407/80
12. Secretarial support to a) Committee of Retired Academic Staff, and b) Committee for the recognition of academic staff service time in EU member-states

Non-Teaching Staff Department

Main areas of responsibility:

All issues pertaining to research and teaching assistants, scientific associates, Special Laboratory Teaching Staff, and Special Technical Laboratory Staff, foreign instructors and specializing doctors of the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Laboratory.
More specifically:
The Department announces notices of vacancies for Special and Laboratory Teaching Staff, and Special Technical Laboratory Staff; it is also responsible for the appointment, permanency, promotion of employees, time benefits and payment scales for the above categories of employees, dismissals, resignations, sending of retirement documents to the State General Accounting Office and Support Funds, issuing of certificates for clerical changes, all types of leaves to all members, postgraduate studies benefits, advancements from unit to unit or from university to university, as well as the employment of foreign instructors and specializing doctors in the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Laboratory.

Administrative Staff Department

Main areas of responsibility:
• Appointment of administrative staff, transfer of staff, Retirement (Funds), dismissals, resignations, resumption of duties
• Advancement in scale of payment, recognition of previous work experience
• Promotions
• Forwards various issues to the Joint Official Council for Administrative Staff with the relevant reasoning, and implements Council decisions
• Issues all types of permits
• Grants the Postgraduate Studies Benefit
• Issues all types of Certificates
• Inputs Personnel Records in an electronic archive
• Issues documents concerning Initial Personnel Training
• Communicates Evaluation Reports
• Communicates decisions to University Schools
• Runs the correspondence with the Greek Manpower Employment Organization concerning the practice of its students at the University
• Drafts detailed reports for the Legal Commission
• Sends a list of nominee jurors to the Greek Courts
• Provides statistical information for the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs – Inventory Information (Trimester – Semester – Annual)
