Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Student Advocate

The mission of the Student Advocate is to support and protect undergraduate and postgraduate students

The aim of this independent office is to foster dialogue, understanding, and cooperation within the university community, thereby contributing to an environment of respect, fairness, and trust.

The Student Advocate acts as a mediator in matters concerning students’ studies, their relationships with teaching and administrative staff, and their overall academic experience.

The Student Advocate does not deal with matters relating to course instruction or assessment. However, the office may assist in cases involving violations of students’ rights, a lack of transparency, or failure to adhere to the principles of academic ethics.

Respecting academic freedom and upholding the principles of equal treatment, the Student Advocate seeks to facilitate the fair, constructive, and amicable resolution of issues through dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation, either directly with the parties involved or in collaboration with the competent university bodies.

All members of the student community may contact the Student Advocate in confidence whenever they feel they need support, guidance, or mediation.

The Student Advocate may also initiate inquiries into issues that could affect students’ rights or academic experience and recommend measures to the competent university bodies to improve procedures, prevent unequal treatment, and foster a culture of respect and inclusion.
