The School of Biology was founded in 1973 when the School of Natural Sciences was divided into the School of Biology and the School of Geology.
Its programmes train students in a wide variety of disciplines related to biology ranging from genetics and developmental and molecular biology to ecology, conservation biology, zoology and botany. Education and training meet the increasing needs of the constantly changing fields of Biology, as well as the needs and demands of modern society.
The School of Biology offers high-quality education, implementing state of the art teaching methods and providing students with theoretical and practical training directly related to their main field of study. Faculty members conduct basic and applied research on a wide range of topics, having at their disposal the required equipment and infrastructure.
