History and archaeology courses have been offered at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki ever since the Faculty of Philosophy was founded. The fact that three historians and three archaeologists were among the first twelve members of the Faculty indicates the importance placed on these two disciplines. In 1984, the School of History and Archaeology was granted autonomous status equal to that of the other Schools in the Faculty of Philosophy.
The School of History and Archaeology offers:
BA Honours degree in History, Archaeology, or History of Art
MA degree in Prehistoric Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Byzantine Archaeology, History of Art, Ancient or Byzantine History, Modern and Contemporary History, History of Slavic Peoples or Turkish Studies, Folklore and Social Anthropology
PhD degree in History or Archaeology.
